Felt like getting out of the city for awhile, so I ventured north to Seasons. This is the old Brits Country Club, and is about 2.5 kms north of the four way stop at Hartebeespoort dam. Seasons is now a residential estate with a full waterpark and restaurant on site.
To say that this is a challenging golf course is somewhat of an understatement. You pretty much play to and fro across a valley. So you are either shooting uphill or downhill. I don’t remember there being a flat “tee to green” anywhere on the course. But it is a heap of fun! Each tee box and green is placed to give you a really good view of the vistas around the estate and surrounding mountains.
The fairways are quite wide and forgiving and the rough will give you a good chance of finding your ball. Just remember the rules for playing uphill and downhill as well as ball below or above your feet, because you are going to be playing a lot of those shots. And there is a cliff that you have to play up!
There is a lot of game on the course to enthral and distract you. Please don’t engage with the game in any way. Take as many pics as you like, but don’t touch. Remember, these are wild animals and as such can be quite unpredictable.
The change room facilities for men and ladies are quite nice, and the halfway house is pretty average. But hey, we’re not going there to eat, we’re going there to enjoy our game! And enjoy it you will. This is a fun and challenging course that you will want to go back to again and again. I’ve been back three times in the last six months!
So if you’re looking for a fun golf day out, pay seasons a visit. Oh, one more thing. Hire a golf cart. Seasons is a really heavy walk!
